Resident Joe Longfeld told the council his home at 215 US 27 has experienced recurring sewage backups after storms, describing events on July 11 and the previous Saturday that left grey and raw sewage in his basement and yard for hours.
"Sanitation lines keep backing up after the storm," Longfeld said, adding that backups continued for seven to eight hours and sometimes into the early morning. Councilors asked him to put his observations and any video evidence in writing so the wastewater operator (David Allen) and the town can test the system (including dye testing) and report back by the next meeting.
