The Select Board unanimously approved a motion to allow use of Bourne roads for a K9 Heroes 5K/road-walk on Oct. 18, 2026, to benefit the Kinetic PTSD Research Center and honor service dogs.
Organizers explained the event will raise money to support surgeries and long-term care for retired police and military dogs; state Rep. Steven Exaros and local supporters described past legislative efforts — including a specialty license plate sales that fund the center — and urged the board to approve the permit. "This event is, it's about supporting the Kinetic heroes that, serve the Commonwealth of Massachusetts," said James Willmott, the event representative. After confirming school parking/notification logistics and emergency planning, the board moved, seconded and approved the road-use request with a 3-0 vote.
