The Locust Valley Central School District board heard an update Tuesday that construction on multiple campus projects is proceeding on schedule and that a parking‑lot change order will be paid from existing allowance funds.
Dr. Ternat told trustees the facilities team has met regularly with the director and that "it is moving ahead beautifully," noting rain caused only a brief delay. She said the district will publish a new video next week showing progress at the middle school, the high school cafeteria and parking‑lot work, and the new research entrepreneurial library center.
During public comment and follow‑up questions, the chair described specific scope for the parking‑lot change order: a new thick concrete sidewalk along the main loop, replacement of approximately 940 square feet of 6‑inch concrete apron, replacement of a precast concrete catch basin, milling and overlay of asphalt on the exit side and installation of five additional catch basins for drainage. The chair said the work adds a cost of "$34,270, which is within the allowance," and that the Belgian block alternate became feasible after the project came in under budget and that undamaged blocks will be repurposed.
The board approved the consent agenda — which included the change order — by unanimous vote.
