Diana, a district staff member who presented the budget materials, said, "So according to Washington state law, we have to disclose our MSOC, spending, for the upcoming year," and explained that the district's revenue and expenditure figures appear skewed because contracted services with Insight School of Washington are recorded in a way that increases reported expenditures. She told the board the district is projecting increased expenditures for the coming year but retains undesignated reserves.
Board members asked clarifying questions during the hearing about accounting codes (F196/F195 and program codes O1–O3 and Program 97 for capital), and the chair closed the hearing and called for the vote. The board also approved routine consent items during the same meeting.
