Board approves contested HR resolution; trustees debate probationary-term change and amendment fails

The board considered human-resources consent items introduced by Onyx Peterson. Trustee Christine Bello said trustees cannot lawfully vote on a termination without adequate time to review underlying documentation and declined to support resolution 8.5 on fiduciary and due-process grounds. Despite her objection, the clerk recorded a roll-call vote in which most trustees voted yes and resolution 8.5 passed.
Separately, resolution 8.15—relating to a reduction of a probationary term for an administrator who previously received tenure in another district—prompted questions about which prior tenure applies. HR staff explained the probationary term was shortened because the employee had prior administrative tenure in another district; legal counsel cited Education Law (including a reference to section 2503) in support of the district's position. A motion to amend the resolution (change "school district leader" to "school district administrator" and strike a paragraph) was made and seconded but failed on roll call.
