County reports CCAP caseload nearly doubled; increased federal allocations keep no waitlist

DSS staff reported that active Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) cases in Jefferson County rose from 340 in October 2023 to 601 at the time of the June 30 meeting. Staff said the FFY26 allocation was revised upward from $5,734,876 to $6,218,690 to cover program charges and that the FFY27 allocation is $7,376,036.
Because of the increased funding, county officials said Jefferson County remains one of the few New York State counties without a CCAP waitlist. The committee received the update as informational; no specific motions were made on the program at the meeting.
