At the meeting, library staff presented July operational data and an early fiscal-year snapshot, noting that recurring invoices and subscriptions cause a large portion of the budget to be spent at the start of the year.
A presenter (S2) said, "We had, over 4,600 visitors in July." The report included 76 new library cards, 74 meeting-room reservations, 275 books added and 558 books withdrawn. Staff also reported 451 computer lab sessions totaling nearly 15,000 minutes of usage. On the technology and subscription side, staff cited the shared catalog cost at about $12,000 per year, participation in a courier system costing roughly $5,000 a year, and Mango Languages at about $1,700 annually.
The facility section noted an HVAC evaluation performed previously cost about $5,000 and that the recommended repairs were estimated at about $40,000; the presenter said approximately $20,000 of previously requested special funds remain to be identified to cover the work. The board acknowledged the repair schedule has been pushed later into August or September as contractors wait on painting and shelving work elsewhere.
