Parks staff confirm Touch-a-Truck Aug. 22 downtown; triathlon sees higher registrations

On the triathlon, Kimberly said races begin at 8 a.m. and typically finish by 10–10:30 a.m. She reported registrations were up by about 10 people compared with the same point last year and that final counts, including on-site signups, should put the total “well over 200” — staff estimated “We’re probably about 2 50 by the time you're it's said and done.”
Board members asked about water temperature and safety for the swim course; staff said they would set the water course in the days ahead and would notify board members as needed. The recreation team also noted the plan to return the water slide at Abshire Park in 2027 and to focus on maintaining current assets next year rather than investing in new capital projects.
