Health staff say county finance removed excess premium deductions; finance says audit must finish first

"The county did make some mistakes in our financial accounting before fiscal year 2425... approximately a $117,000 from our account for health insurance premiums for our employees, but they were only supposed to take out 53,000," a health department representative said, later adding additional 2024 discrepancies and asking for roughly $138,000 to be returned. The speaker said she has documentation and asked county staff (Jill, Donna, Paul, Jamie) to provide reconciliation evidence.
A finance staff member responded that final corrective steps are contingent on the completion and upload of the 2024 audit files. Finance offered two interim options: issue a check to cover the amount now, or temporarily pause further charges until the balance is reconciled; finance committed to provide documentation as soon as the audit is uploaded.
The committee did not finalize a remedy during the meeting and asked staff to expedite audit uploads and follow up with the requested ledger entries.
