The Nottingham Select Board voted on Aug. 3 to sign and post a special town meeting warrant for Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, which includes Article 1 proposing a temporary 12‑month moratorium on data‑center permits to allow the town to study potential impacts and draft zoning regulations.
Chair Charlotte Fife read Article 1 onto the record: "Shall the town of Nottingham adopt a temporary moratorium on data centers ordinance pursuant to RSA 674:23, which would prohibit the acceptance, processing, approval or issuance of permits or approvals for the establishment, construction, expansion or operation of data centers within the town for a period of 12 months to allow the town time to study potential impacts and develop appropriate zoning regulations." She noted the planning board had recommended the moratorium by a 5‑0 vote. The board voted to approve and sign the warrant and directed staff to post the warrant at the town post offices and in the newspaper of general circulation as required.
Administrator Ellen White said postings would include the town offices, the two Nottingham post offices and the usual newspaper posting, and she will also post at the school and in a local paper within seven days as required. The board approved the motion to sign the warrant by voice vote.
