The Loma Prieta Joint Union Elementary School District Board voted to adopt Resolution 25‑2 certifying the sufficiency of instructional materials for the 2024–25 school year. Chair (speaker 3) opened the public hearing, said no members of the public had signed up to speak, and moved adoption of the resolution, which trustees approved by voice vote.
Board members pressed staff to clarify what the certification means. A trustee asked whether sufficiency is only a one‑to‑one textbook count or whether it also encompasses quality and state‑approval status. District staff responded that, for the purpose of this agenda item, sufficiency is defined as each student having access to the adopted materials — including online resources — and not an efficacy review. "Sufficient in this context is sufficient in terms of the number for kids," staff said, adding that effectiveness is examined through classroom assessment and teacher feedback. The board recorded adoption of the resolution and closed the public hearing with no public testimony.
