The board approved a consolidated employee handbook intended to provide a single reference for district employees. The superintendent and staff said the handbook was reviewed by union representatives and legal counsel and that it cross-references board policy and the collective bargaining agreement; the handbook includes a new state wage-disclosure section required by Oregon law.
"This was all CBA, district policy, state and federal laws," the superintendent said as she described the document and the review process. Board members asked confirmation that the union had an opportunity to comment; staff said the union had reviewed and returned suggested changes, which were incorporated where appropriate. The board voted to approve the handbook as presented; staff will provide the handbook to employees with a signed acknowledgement at the start of the school year.
