The chair called a special meeting of Seaside School District 10 to interview applicants for an open board seat and announced that one applicant had withdrawn.
"Trisha Como has withdrawn her application, so we will not be interviewing her tonight," the chair said, informing the public that remaining candidates would be interviewed. Board members then proceeded to ask each applicant about community involvement and priorities for the district. One applicant said, "I have been a member of the budget committee for the last 2 years," and emphasized maintaining reserves for emergencies while directing funds to current students.
The interviews focused on common themes: fiscal stewardship, staff retention and classroom safety. Several candidates described connections to local schools as parents, volunteers or substitute aides and said those roles informed their priorities. The board agreed to take any formal nomination to the regular meeting scheduled for the 17th, where a motion, second and vote would be required to make an appointment.
