Superintendent Kapolka informed the board that on Jan. 31 he shared a district communication with staff, parents and students to explain a recent federal policy change that rescinded protections previously restricting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) actions on school grounds.
Kapolka also reviewed routine items including congratulating students and highlighting CHS students who participated in the Michigan Music Conference State Honors Choir on Jan. 25. The minutes note the district has used four weather-related closure days this school year and may request a state waiver for up to three additional days if the six-day allotment is exceeded.
