City awards water-treatment contract; project $31,000 over budget, city to cover 5% match

City engineering staff told the council that bids for the water-treatment (graduate treatments) project were opened May 18 and that the apparent low bidder is Sierra Santa Fe. Staff said they are still finalizing contract paperwork and insurance before presenting the contract to the mayor for signature.
Staff said the project came in about $31,000 over initial estimates. “Their total approved funds are $432,407 and the city, they committed 5% to that for the contract,” staff said, which corresponds to a city share of about $22,757. Staff also said they are working through contract details and expect to have paperwork ready for the mayor to sign in a few days.
