Board approves five-year CTE plan, adds new auto/welding instructor

The board voted to adopt the Quillayute Valley School District five-year CTE plan after a staff presentation describing pathway expansion and certification opportunities. Brenda King highlighted program growth, including a recent hire: “We hired a, Otto's welding teacher … his name is mister Vallejo,” she said, noting student interest and that the program offers certifications in autos, welding and culinary.
Administrators discussed partnerships for dual credit (Olympic College, Peninsula College) and the plan’s goal to align industry certifications with postsecondary options and internships. The board made and seconded a motion to approve the five-year plan and the motion carried by voice vote.
