County staff presented a proposed two-month law-enforcement services contract for the city of Tabor and asked the board whether to accept an associated resignation or proceed with the contract. Staff said they are working with the county attorney's office and expect to bring a final contract for action; in the meantime the county is providing coverage and will charge the city for prisoner transport to Fremont County court when applicable.
Staff said the arrangement covers the city limits of Tabor and that the county will continue school resource officer coverage through an agreement with the Greenbelt County Sheriff's Office. The contract described in the briefing is for two months with the option for later revision; staff will circulate the draft to the cities and the board for formal action when ready.
"You'll be getting a copy of the law enforcement services contract for the city of Tabor," staff said, adding the county will charge the city for transport to Fremont County court in cases involving arrests made on the Fremont side. The board deferred action on a separate personnel resignation pending additional documentation.
