Engineer reports unmarked utility strikes on Cambridge Boulevard; lead water line to be replaced

Village Engineer Caleb Zmith reported construction crews struck an unmarked water line (lead) and cut an electric conduit for a street light; an unmarked gas line was also hit. Zmith said Burgess & Niple is remarking records as they go to improve accuracy and recommended trenching and filling where railroad ties (old trolley lines) were found under pavement.
Zmith also said temporary pavement is being placed for the parade and that the water booster station will receive an electrical upgrade soon, which may reduce water to a trickle for up to eight hours on the upgrade day. Council asked contractors to be more careful with road block placement and to encourage local traffic only in the work area.
