Rusty Thompson was confirmed as chair of the Wilson County Data Center Advisory Committee, and Jeremy Fawn as vice chair, as the group began work drafting a zoning ordinance amendment to regulate data centers.
"I need a motion to confirm Rusty Thompson as the chair, and Jeremy Fawn as the vice chair for the data center committee," Planning Director Christopher Loss told members before the motion was made and seconded. The committee, created after a July moratorium on new data center approvals, will use a model resolution circulated in members' packets as a starting point.
The committee will meet again with targeted technical briefings on utilities and fire protection. Loss told members he will circulate a range of distance and buffer options for a vote at a future meeting.
