Board remembers former member, hears student council and veterans recognitions

The Washington Community High School Board of Education began its Nov. 11, 2024, meeting with a moment of silence for longtime board member Gloria McNett, who died Nov. 8, 2024. Chris Kopinski led the observance and later recognized Veterans Day, thanking local veterans for their service.
The Student Council led the room in the Pledge of Allegiance and reported on recent activities, including the Mid-Illini meeting and the Boo Bash. The council said it is planning a winter assembly for Dec. 6, 2024. Kopinski also announced the recipients of the 2024 College Board National Recognition Program: Braelyn Feehan, Amelia Heinze, Christian Juarez, Zackary Mickelson, Julian Ortiz, Grace Reed, John Turnbull and Benjamin Wake.
