Council authorized Georgia Power to acquire a permanent easement from the city at 3515 Macaulay Road so the utility can install underground power service for the Tolleson Aquatics facility. Mayor said the easement should resolve recurring power problems that had affected tennis courts and other parts of the facility.
Staff noted the easement will service the new Tolleson Aquatics facility. The motion to approve was made by Miss Hines and seconded by Mr. Pickens; Mr. Lindley, joining remotely, indicated his affirmative vote; the council approved the easement 6-0.
Why it matters: Installing underground service is intended to stabilize power to a major recreation facility and prevent future outages that have affected amenities such as tennis courts.
