The Smyrna council approved a $588,926.34 change order to complete additional work on the Tolleson Aquatic Facility, to be funded from the 2022 SPLOST. City staff identified the primary need as ADA compliance and also cited paving, curb and gutter, landscaping, low-voltage electrical work and security enhancements with Reeves Young LLC (Sugar Hill) named as the contractor.
City staff said the extra work is predominantly to meet required ADA side compliance. "The only thing I would add is it also addresses the paving and the curb and gutter that's currently out there, some landscaping and some low voltage electrical and some security. But predominantly, it's the required ADA side compliance," the staff member said. The motion to approve the change order was made by Mr. Gould, seconded by Mr. Pickens, and the council voted 6-0 to approve.
Why it matters: The additional funding increases the project budget and adjusts the SPLOST allocation for the Tolleson Aquatic Facility; the work addresses regulatory compliance (ADA) and construction completion requirements.
