Theron, representing public works, said contractors pulled the old pump and motor from Well 6 and found an obstruction; they used a video camera and believe the screen has been drawn up about 100 feet from the well. Staff said the contractor is applying for a Department of Ecology permit to extract the screen before a new pump and motor can be installed. "They're applying for a permit from Department of Ecology to move forward in extracting the screen before we can talk about putting a new pump and motor in there," Theron told the council.
Theron also reported the public-works crew completed a sprinkler system at the public-works site and that crews are busy with mowing and fertilizing city properties. He described recent vandalism at Wachowski Park restrooms—"Somebody smeared their poop all over the walls and fixtures"—and said the facility was cleaned and reopened after two days.
