Marysville hires Conservation Techniques for parks plan; council approves $219,329 allocation

Director Mizell introduced the consultant team selected to develop Marysville's first externally contracted parks, recreation and open space (PROS) plan. Steve Du of Conservation Techniques, joining remotely, described the team's focus on park system assessments, community outreach and capital project prioritization. "Our team's really excited to, with the potential to work with Marysville on a new parks, recreation, open space plan," Du said.
Du described a process of conditions assessments, community surveys, in-person and virtual open houses, focus groups and a two-touch engagement cycle leading to plan development. He said the team will deliver 30% design work for three site-specific parks (Strawberry Fields, E B Waterfront Park and Twin Lakes) and prepare a funding strategy. Council member Norton moved to authorize the mayor to sign and execute the agreement with Conservation Techniques in the amount of $199,390 and to approve a $19,939 management reserve for a total not to exceed $219,329; the motion passed.
