Board shrinks Building Trades Advisory Committee to five standing seats with two alternates

Chief Building Official Caleb Solzhen presented proposed changes to the Building Trades Advisory Committee bylaws and said the county is reducing the committee from nine positions (eight previously term-limited) to five standing positions with two alternates to address difficulty keeping volunteer seats filled.
Solzhen said the change is intended to allow some current volunteers who have termed out to continue serving under a new structure. "We are proposing with the bylaw change for the building trades advisory committee to change from 9, positions of which 8 were term limited and the only standing position was City of Greeley building official, to reduce that to 5 positions and we'll all be standing positions with 2 alternates due to the difficulty to keep these positions filled with volunteers and be able to keep, you know, some of the current volunteers who have termed out be able to have them continue serving on the committee," Solzhen said. The board moved, seconded and voted to approve the bylaw amendment resolution.
The change was presented as a staffing/board-structure adjustment to improve continuity in the advisory committee.
