Local arts group announces World Peace concert and Porchfest in Old Orchard

A representative of a local independent arts group told the commission about two upcoming fall events in the Old Orchard area: a World Peace concert on Sunday, Sept. 27 (3-6 p.m.) at Old Orchard Municipal Park and a Porchfest on Sunday, Oct. 4 (1-5 p.m.) in the Zeta Dell neighborhood.
The speaker noted about 30 performers had signed up so far for Porchfest and that seven performers were new to Webster Groves. "Our 7th World Peace concert is on Sunday, September 27," the resident said, and added that moving the concert to Old Orchard Municipal Park followed the Garden Cafe's closure. Commissioners and other members encouraged coordination with business district events and Webster Arts.
Members discussed outreach, clarifying that some new performers are local but many perform outside Webster Groves; they recommended reaching out to business districts about adding music to scheduled events such as Oktoberfest (Oct. 17) and trick-or-treat (Oct. 24).
