MAPS honors retirees and names teachers and support staff of the year

During the June 2 special meeting the board recognized retirees and announced awards: Elementary Teacher of the Year Catherine Lehmann, 6–12 Teacher of the Year Kris O'Connor, and Support Staff Person of the Year Pam Cornock; several principals and staff made introductions and remarks.
The Marquette Area Public Schools Board recognized retirees and announced district award winners at its June 2 special meeting. Superintendent Zack Sedgwick introduced school principals and staff who presented remarks honoring retirees and award recipients.
Stacy Brock, principal of Sandy Knoll Elementary School, spoke about retiree Sarah Johnson (speech pathologist). Brandon Wheeler, principal of Marquette Senior High School, spoke about retirees Kris O'Connor (social studies teacher) and Katy Vessels (counselor). Presenters also introduced the district's award winners: Elementary Teacher of the Year Catherine Lehmann (Cherry Creek Elementary School), 6–12 Teacher of the Year Kris O'Connor (MSHS), and Support Staff Person of the Year Pam Cornock (MSHS). Board members offered thanks to the retirees and congratulations to the award recipients.
The board recessed afterward for a brief reception and photo opportunities.
