MSHS principal previews Homecoming week, mascot vote and fall musical

Gavin Johnson, principal of Marquette Senior High School, briefed the board on school activities and student engagement plans for the fall, saying Homecoming Week will run Sept. 22–26 and students are voting in advisory on names for a new mascot. Board Vice-President Jennifer Ray welcomed the new principal and praised student involvement, saying she was "excited to see such enthusiasm from our new principal". Student School Board Representatives Elle DeBolt and Eleanor Stevenson summarized upcoming events: an invitation to the Homecoming Assembly on Sept. 26 at 11:10 a.m.; the Powder Puff football game on Sept. 22 at 7:00 p.m.; and athletic schedules, including varsity football at Saginaw on Sept. 19 and cross country invites. Stevenson also noted the MSHS fall musical, Hadestown, will be performed Nov. 13–15 at Kaufman Auditorium.
