The board voted July 21 to award the MAHS solar project to Peninsula Solar, following GEI Consultants’ post-bid review. The packet notes MAPS was awarded a MI Solar Access Grant from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) providing up to $50,000 in reimbursement funding; MAHS had separately raised $37,109 to support the installation.
GEI received one responsive bid from Peninsula Solar and recommended award at a base price of $64,116, with a recommended 10% contingency ($6,400) to address unforeseen conditions and a recommended $5,000 structural assessment fee because record roof documentation was not available. The board approved the award by voice vote (motion carried 5-0). Administration and GEI plan follow-up engineering to confirm roof capacity before finalizing construction scheduling.
