Board members share summer updates, foundation grants and renovation progress

During the standing items portion of the July 28 meeting, board members offered brief commentary about summer activities and district-related community events. Board member Amber Hildebrand noted she had been using the city park pass and praised the adaptive summer program; Board member Keneth Gulock mentioned seeing Lauren Maciejewski before college.
Board member Amy Thomas-August said the Lake Shore Foundation for Educational Excellence awarded $16,000 in grants for elementary math materials and thanked foundation volunteers and President Jack Dick. Elizabeth Munger congratulated Janelle Reif on being crowned Miss St. Clair Shores and thanked the Miss SCS program for using district facilities. Board member Susan DeLong welcomed new hires and congratulated Cindy Sam on her retirement.
Board President Kurt Ziegler later provided an update on Rodgers renovations, saying the outside will be "spectacular," playground equipment has been installed and the back parking lot will be for staff. Dr. DiPonio confirmed construction will continue through 2025 into 2026 and that the walking path at Rodgers remains in place.
