The Lake Shore Board approved the purchase of one special needs school bus from Hoekstra Transportation for a total cost of $171,838. The motion, made by Board member Susan DeLong and seconded by Board member Keneth Gulock, passed unanimously among members present.
During discussion, Board member Susan DeLong asked whether the district already had another special needs bus. Staff member Ms. Larsen said this is the second such vehicle in the fleet. Superintendent Dr. DiPonio added that "this bus has a wheelchair lift and air conditioning." The board recorded the approval and directed procurement to complete the purchase.
The bus purchase was presented as an equipment procurement to meet student transportation needs.
