Chelsea board approves package of Thrun policies to take effect July 1, 2025

The Chelsea School District Board voted to adopt a package of Thrun policy updates at its Jan. 6 meeting, setting the effective date for July 1, 2025.
Superintendent Mike Kapolka recommended the board approve Thrun policy 2302 (Board Code of Ethics). The board approved that motion (moved by Sara Tracy, seconded by Heidi Reyst) by unanimous vote. The board also approved policies 2505 and 2506 concerning Board Committees and Organizational Meetings; policy 3120 (Head Start COVID‑19 Mitigation); and a group of financial and operations policies (3201–3213) addressing accounting, budgets and truth in budgeting, deposits, investment and disbursement procedures, tax levies, school activities funds, debit/credit card use, borrowing, post‑issuance tax compliance and electronic transactions. Motions for the policy packages were approved on recorded votes, generally unanimous.
Board members indicated these policy updates will be reviewed in committee where appropriate and will be published with the stated July 1, 2025 implementation date.
