The council considered and approved a three-year contract renewal with the Thurston County Sheriff’s Department. Council members noted the contract includes only a 1% annual increase and does not include purchase of a patrol vehicle as part of the contract term.
Councilmember (mover) said, "I make the motion that we approve the 3 year contract with the sheriff department." The chair called for the vote and the motion passed. Councilmembers confirmed the funding arrangement for the school resource officer remains in place, with $20,000 paid by the city and $20,000 paid by the school district.
