House adopts resolution setting State of the State for Feb. 2 and budget deadlines

Leader Lambert moved to suspend the rules and introduced House Joint Resolution 742 to call a joint convention of the Senate and House for the governor's State of the State address. "This does indicate when the state of the state will be. That will be on February 2. You will get your budget books on that day. The budget language will be due on February 5 and the proposed budget filed by February 9," Leader Lambert told the chamber.
Members adopted HJR 742 without objection. The resolution also authorized transmittal of the budget document and legislation implementing the budget for fiscal year 2026–27. The scheduling places committee and internal deadlines on an expedited calendar ahead of the governor's address.
