Council approves engineering services to fix alley stormwater behind Broad Street

City Administrator Matt Wolf presented a professional services proposal from Cedar Corporation to design coordinated alley and storm sewer improvements for the alley behind 216 Broad Street. Wolf said the scope includes a topographic survey, utility-locate coordination, photo documentation, right-of-way verification, preliminary and final designs, meeting participation, construction plans, erosion-control and restoration plans and an opinion of probable construction costs, at a cost not to exceed $8,700.

Wolf explained there is an existing private inlet near the Circle K property and that while Circle K could allow a private connection, the city prefers a public storm sewer solution. The project would be funded through the Storm Sewer Fund; the owner of 216 Broad Street agreed to participate in cost sharing, and participation by the owner of 220 Broad Street is under review. Alderpersons Ruona and Otwell moved to approve Resolution 42-26; the motion passed unanimously.
