City Manager Baker introduced the incoming police chief at a public reception and the city clerk, Holly Rees, administered the oath of office. Baker said the chief was selected after a national search and that 16 people participated in a two-day assessment center used to evaluate the finalists.
The new chief, introduced in remarks as Chief Bill Bro, thanked Baker and attendees and pledged to lead the agency with “integrity and accountability.” He emphasized community partnership and problem-solving as priorities, saying he would work to make sure the department remains an exemplary law enforcement agency while supporting staff success. The reception concluded with an invitation to mingle before the 6:30 p.m. city council meeting.
