Idaho Food Bank to use county event center for Thanksgiving distribution Nov. 1

Shayla Shank, operations manager for the Idaho Food Bank, asked Bannock County commissioners to allow the food bank to use the event center's upper parking lot for the annual Thanksgiving distribution, which she said is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 1 this year.
"We have a big garden... this is that time of year again for our Thanksgiving distribution," Shank said, describing traffic-flow setup, use of barricades and prior coordination with Highland High School for overflow parking. Commissioners and staff said they saw no conflict with the schedule and approved the request in open session.
Commissioners praised volunteers who had supported prior distributions, including youth from a National Guard program, and urged the food bank to continue coordinating closely with event-center staff about barricades and overflow parking arrangements.
