Board approves additional ARPA funds to complete animal-shelter site purchase and reviews kennel plan

County staff said the purchase was largely complete and that the additional appropriation would cover closing costs. As staff asked, "I'm asking the board to appropriate $1,916.50 to complete the settlement, for the site that's gonna be the animal shelter." Following a motion and second, the appropriation passed by voice vote.
Staff also reported plans to procure kennel components salvaged from a recently closed commercial facility; new comparable stainless kennels were estimated by staff to cost between $4,000 and $5,000 each while some salvaged units could be supplied at lower cost (one quoted price in discussion was about $975 for a mock-up). The board approved an initial small purchase so members could view a mock-up, and staff said they would retain an architect to finalize layout and facility needs before further purchases and renovation work.
