County to raise posted speed limit on stretch of Route 460 after traffic study

Nottoway County public works reported that a traffic speed study on Route 460 from Route 360 to the Prince Edward County line supported a posted speed increase from 55 mph to 60 mph.
Public works staff said the study was completed, supported by traffic engineering, and only awaits a professional engineer's stamp before signs are installed: "It is gonna go from 55 to 60 miles an hour. The study has been finalized... Signs will probably be put up in a month or so." The board noted the change and asked staff to coordinate signage and public notification to minimize driver confusion.
Staff also said smaller site-distance work is planned at the Indian Oak / Winningham Road intersection and that paving and surface-treatment projects are scheduled later in the season; supervisors asked staff to coordinate communications about potential flagging or traffic impacts during construction.
