County CTE director previews Space Vandenberg initiative and apprenticeship expansion

Cameron said the department recently won a multimillion‑dollar initiative called "Space Vandenberg," intended to expose students to aerospace careers through STEM and virtual‑reality experiences and to create an aerospace career pipeline with partners such as REACH, Vandenberg Space Force Base and Allan Hancock College. On apprenticeships, she said the county is in year three of an early childhood educator apprenticeship program and runs four stackable apprenticeships that can lead to AA credits.
Board members praised the countywide coordination and asked about environmental/green‑economy alignment; Cameron said state grant rules shape eligible sectors but that green economy content can cross pathways. The board thanked the CTE team for partnership work with local colleges and districts.
