The conservation commission discussed proposed changes to the wetlands ordinance and supporting charts prepared by Brian and others. Members favored concise, clear language to reduce loopholes and make enforcement more straightforward during application reviews.
A member offered to send Brian's wetlands proposal and related materials to Carolyn so planning-board members could review them in advance of a proposed joint meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 11 at 6:30 p.m. Commissioners said having the draft in reviewers' hands ahead of the meeting would make the joint discussion more productive and help the planning board formulate questions in advance.
Members emphasized the need to highlight prohibited uses in buffers and to provide a chart that clarifies wetland buffers versus nondisturbance zones. The commission agreed to continue discussing final edits in the next meeting and to distribute the material to planning staff and board members.
