Board approves transfer of Midwest Drive outlot to city
Summary
The Onalaska Board of Public Works voted unanimously to accept an outlot on Midwest Drive as a public right-of-way after staff said the transfer corrects a surveying technicality tied to prior private development. The board confirmed the developer will upgrade the roadway to city standards.

Mayor Kim Smith called for approval of Resolution 21-2026 to accept an outlot on Midwest Drive into the city street system. Jared Holter told the board the street was built largely to city standards when the Holiday Inn Express was developed but remained private because the certified survey map did not transfer the outlot to the city; the resolution would formally convey the right-of-way to the city.
During discussion, board members clarified who will pay to bring the roadway fully to city standards. Holter said the street "will be brought up [to] city standards" and that the developer — the previous Holiday Inn Express owner — has current obligations to complete outstanding roadway work. Steven Knott moved to approve Resolution 21-2026; Jim Van Ash seconded and the board approved the resolution unanimously.
