MAPS outlines $3M in short-term projects; district to launch facilities survey ahead of potential May 2026 bond

Superintendent Zack Sedgwick reviewed a list of short-term facilities projects for summer 2025 and described a multi-part community engagement plan to inform longer-term capital planning.
Sedgwick said short-term projects included a Sandy Knoll roof replacement, outdoor learning spaces at Cherry Creek and Sandy Knoll (grant-supported), Shiras Planetarium renovations, MSHS college and career readiness + sidewalk/facia & solar project, MSHS & Sandy Knoll PA systems, and MSHS pod HVAC, with total projects approximated at $3 million and funding from the general fund, grants and fundraising.
He outlined a community survey developed with School Perceptions and reviewed by board representatives and partners (GEI, IDI, Miron Construction, Thrun, PFM). The timeline: staff distribution the week of Sept. 8, mailed to all households the week of Sept. 15, open through Oct. 3, with results presented at the Oct. 13 board meeting. Sedgwick said the goal is "gather broad community feedback on facilities planning and potential May 2026 bond proposal."
Board members encouraged participation and emphasized the survey results will guide next steps. No formal vote was required; the plan will move forward under superintendent direction.
