Council approves replacement of collapsing 8-inch sewer main on Park Street

City Public Works staff told the council that an 8-inch sewer main on Park Street between 2nd and 4th is showing signs of collapse and recommended a replacement and manhole rehabilitation contract.
"The exact same thing... the 8 inch main is starting to collapse. And so they're gonna replace 1,100 linear feet," Public Works staff said, citing a bid around $300,007. Councilors asked whether these projects reflect isolated incidents or broader aging infrastructure; staff replied they respond to repeated calls and CCTV inspections and that these locations were prioritized after service complaints.
Council approved the resolution by motion. Staff said the work will proceed to address recurring backups and reduce emergency responses in the corridor.
