Superintendent Ben Mainka reported several district items Jan. 23, including recognition of cold‑weather days off, an upcoming Parent Camp event, a podcast featuring the Positivity Project, the Unified Basketball Game and planning activities for the 2025–26 school year.
Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operations Rebecca Scicluna reported on food services investments at the high school, maintenance operations during inclement weather and an upcoming budget amendment to be presented next month. Assistant Superintendent of Talent Management and Development Dr. Laura Carino thanked the safety and security supervisor for the presentation, outlined staff wellness and retention initiatives (including a Staff Retention Task Force and Wellness Committee), and previewed the new Wellness Center renderings. Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning Mr. Giromini said the department is at full capacity with recent hires, noted the end of the Winter iReady testing window next Friday and reminded the board that Feb. 11 is the state required WIDA testing day with non‑ELD students participating virtually.
The student board representative, Cameron Lipscomb, earlier reported on a new Interactivities Council at the high school and said the new semester started that day with generally positive feedback from students.
