Novi board adopts resolution to pursue no‑increase millage on Nov. 2025 ballot

The Novi Community School District Board of Education on Jan. 23 adopted a resolution formally declaring its intent to request a millage in November 2025 to address facilities, infrastructure and technology priorities without increasing the current tax rate.
Trustee Mena moved the resolution, which Vice‑Treasurer Roney supported; the motion carried 7–0. The resolution directs the administration to prepare materials and engage the community through informational sessions and public meetings so voters can evaluate the proposal ahead of the ballot. The resolution states in part: "The Novi Community School District Board of Education formally declares its intent to request a millage in November 2025 that will address the district’s critical needs without increasing the current tax rate being levied."
Board materials cited facility upgrades, infrastructure improvements and technology enhancements as the primary uses of any funds approved through the millage. The board also reaffirmed its commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparency, and asked the administration to return with the items necessary to place the proposal on the November ballot.
The board voted unanimously on the resolution; no members registered a nay. The board scheduled continued outreach and informational work by administration in the months before the ballot.
