Aaron Rengers, speaking as village staff, briefed council on multiple utility matters at the July 20 meeting. He said the EPA approved plans for the water line and sanitary extension, with right-of-way acquisition and advertising for bids as the next steps. On wastewater, Kleinfelder is still reviewing flow meter data as part of the lagoons/wastewater system study, and the village continues discussions with OEPA about system needs.
Rengers said Marvin is completing repairs at the water plant and finishing responses to OEPA. He also said the preliminary study for the North Wayne Pump Station — being done with Access Engineering — is expected in August. On rates, Rengers told council current water and wastewater rates expire at year-end and the finance committee discussed either small annual increases (for example, $5 per year) or larger biannual increases (for example, $10 every two years); the formal rate ordinance is expected in October or November.
"EPA has approved the plans for the extension," Rengers said when summarizing next steps for the water line project. The council did not take a final vote on rate changes at the meeting and directed staff to continue preparing materials for the later ordinance.
