Trustees ask staff for cost scenarios before choosing CTE path
Summary
After a lengthy presentation, trustees directed staff to estimate costs for a districtwide 4x4 transition, curriculum updates to meet California's new CTE clusters, and the cost of redesigning one campus into an academy; staff agreed to collaborate with finance and return with analyses.

Following the CTE presentation, the board sought specific financial and operational numbers to guide any major redesign. Trustees asked staff to provide three scenarios: districtwide implementation of a 4x4 schedule, the cost to update curriculum across sites to meet the state's cluster framework, and the cost of a single-school academy redesign that would fully integrate academics and CTE pathways.
District staff and the business office said they would run the scenarios and partner with relevant department leads. "So, again, just provide estimate: cost of the 4 by 4, single site, district wide; cost of updating the curriculum, district wide; and what would be the cost of a single school redesign?" a staff member summarized, and board members said they wanted those numbers to inform a staged decision.
