The Escondido Union High School District board unanimously ratified a two-year tentative agreement with the Escondido Secondary Teachers Association covering the 2026–27 and 2027–28 school years and approved a related two‑year MOU establishing summer-school pay and staffing language.
"This doesn't happen often, but both sides were able to be creative so that we could reach a 2 year settlement," said Mike Silva Cole, an ESTA bargaining team member, urging trustees to ratify the agreement. Chief human-resources staff presented the MOU and noted pay rates, preparation compensation and counselor staffing language for summer school.
Board members praised the collaborative bargaining process and noted the unusual step of achieving a multi‑year agreement. The board recorded unanimous roll-call votes to approve both the MOU on summer school compensation and the tentative agreement.
