The Knoxville City Council took action on an ordinance change to the city's bicycle and micromobility regulations at its Aug. 3 meeting. Council Member Chris Nichols moved, and Bridget Mohler seconded, to "approve the first consideration and adopt an ordinance amending the code of ordinances of the City of Knoxville, Iowa, by Amending Title 5, Chapter 1, Section 11 – Bicycle and Micromobility Regulations, with a proposed age modification from 12 to 14." The minutes record that the motion "passed on a roll call vote."
The minutes present the action as both first consideration and adoption in the same entry; the clerk's records would show whether a second reading was waived or otherwise resolved. The change as recorded would raise the minimum age for the covered devices from 12 to 14 if the ordinance remains final on subsequent required steps.
